
The State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Mr. Olivier Kabera, visited the Nyabarongo II hydro power plant under construction and requested that the construction works be expedited and completed before the beginning of 2027.
The State Minister in the Ministry of Infrastructure together with the CEO of the Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Armand Zingiro visited various infrastructure projects aimed at increasing electricity access in Rwanda.
In particular, they visited the Nyabarongo II hydropower plant, located in the Rulindo District, Northern Province and were updated on construction progress.
Nyabarongo Hydro power plant is a project of the Government of Rwanda in partnership with various other stakeholders including a contractor called SINO HYDRO CORPORATION LTD. The company had set itself the goal of completing the construction of the plant in December 2026, but for various reasons, the completion of the plant is expected to be completed in 2027.
Mr. Kabera Olivier, praised the management of REG for monitoring the implementation of the construction of the plant and requested that they continue to monitor the completion of the work and workers should work day and night to ensure that the power plant is completed in due course.
