REG Women BBC have retained the Rwanda Women’s Basketball League title after completing a dominant 4–0 series victory over The Hoops Rwanda in the Cheetah Energy RBL Playoffs final.

The championship was confirmed on Wednesday, August 26, when REG defeated The Hoops 73–46 in Game 4 at Petit Stade in Remera. Having won the opening three games of the best-of-seven final, REG entered the fourth game needing just one more victory to defend their title and they delivered a commanding performance.

The victory marks REG’s third consecutive league title and their fifth championship since the club was established in 2021, according to the tournament report.

Under the guidance of head coach Mukaneza Esperance, REG controlled the decisive game and maintained a strong advantage throughout the encounter. Kiyobe Chantal led the champions with 16 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

REG also demonstrated their strength in several key areas of the game. They made eight three-pointers, compared with two by The Hoops, while their fast-paced approach earned them a 27–12 advantage in fast-break points. REG further registered six blocks, twice the number recorded by their opponents.

REG players also featured prominently among the season’s individual award winners. Malian forward Maiga Kadidia claimed the league’s top individual honour after being named Women’s Basketball League MVP. She finished the season with 180 points, 131 rebounds, 31 assists and 16 blocks in 329 minutes and 50 seconds.

Kiyobe Chantal was also recognised for her outstanding shooting performance, sharing the Most Three-Pointers award after making 28 successful three-point shots.

As league champions, REG Women BBC received the championship trophy, gold medals and RWF10 million. The Hoops Rwanda finished the competition as runners-up, earning silver medals and RWF5 million, while APR Women BBC secured third place and received bronze medals and RWF3 million.
