
On 27th January 2026, the extended Senior Management of Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and its subsidiaries convened for its annual one‑day retreat at the REG Training Centre, bringing together leaders to reflect on organizational performance, align strategic priorities, and reinforce a collective commitment to building a resilient, reliable and sustainable electricity network.
The retreat provided a platform for senior leaders to assess progress made, promote an inclusive and collaborative approach, and draw lessons from past challenges to strengthen operational delivery across the Group.
Opening the retreat, the Managing Director of Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL), Mr. Gakwavu Claver, underscored the importance of beginning the year with reflection and shared purpose. “Starting the year with honest reflection allows us to realign our priorities and renew our collective commitment to building a stronger and more resilient electricity network that meets the expectations of our customers and supports national development,” Mr. Gakwavu said.
CEO Calls for a Delivery‑Driven Mindset
In his address to participants, the Chief Executive Officer of REG, Mr. Armand Zingiro, challenged senior managers to deepen a results‑oriented culture across the organization.
“We must strengthen a delivery‑driven mindset, continuously assess where we stand against NST2 targets, and enhance coordination across our entities. Equally important is fostering a corruption‑free culture and planning proactively to ensure that electricity demand curve is kept level with generation growth.
During the afternoon session of the one‑day retreat, participants engaged in constructive discussions on key strategic issues, including delivery mechanisms and the promotion of a One Team approach across REG and its subsidiaries. Senior managers shared experiences from their respective departments, highlighting operational challenges, best practices and opportunities for improved collaboration.
Updates were also presented on audit and compliance matters, with management commending the significant achievement of a 100% score in the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) audit and implementation status for the financial year ended 30 June 2025. Participants recognized this milestone as a testament to strengthened internal controls, accountability and adherence to governance standards.
In addition, critical security‑related matters and corruption risks were openly discussed. Participants focused on identifying root causes and proposing practical solutions aimed at safeguarding assets, enhancing ethical conduct and reinforcing public trust in the organization.
The one‑day Senior Management retreat reaffirmed REG’s commitment to excellence in service delivery, transparency and teamwork. A similar retreat was last held in May 2025.
